December 2021 Luncheon - In Person Only

Membership Appreciation Day

  • 11:15 to 11:30am – in person registration
  • 11:30am – 12noon – in person lunch
  • 12:00 – Panel session

  • FREE TO MVHRA MEMBERS -- PANEL AND ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION: “Difficult Decisions In Our Diverse Workplaces – How Are HR Professionals Tackling Today’s Toughest Challenges?”

Topics to be addressed include vaccination policies; the latest on government mandates and rules surrounding COVID-19; COVID-19 and other challenges through the lens of equity and inclusion; staffing and turnover issues; and more.

MVHRA is excited to provide this luncheon discussion covering the topics of our day. Using our collective experience and talents, we will explore strategies for analysis, engagement, leadership, and policy and practice, including through the lens of equity and inclusion. HR professionals are accustomed to being nimble and flexible as dynamic changes occur in their work environments. However, 2020 and 2021 have presented unprecedented challenges, to individual practitioners and the HR profession as a whole. Organizations are changing the way they operate, and HR professionals’ efforts from recruitment to compliance must change with them. Join us as our panel leads a roundtable discussion, which will seek to sort through these complex issues, and to identify emerging ways HR professionals are performing their everyday work to support their organizations in the face of new challenges.

    Clothes That Work Clothing Drive
The Workforce Readiness Committee is pleased to host Clothes That Work at the December luncheon! Please donate your new or gently used work attire during the event.  They will also accept purses, jewelry, scarves, coats, and new undergarments including socks and white or black t-shirts.  If you can’t donate clothing, please consider making a monetary donation or volunteering your time.  Clothes that Work representatives will be on-site to give you more information about how you can support the organization.

Clothes That Work is a grassroots non-profit that has been providing professional clothing, image counseling and training for job seekers in Montgomery County since 1998. More than 34,000 men, women, and independent teens have benefited from the services provided by Clothes That Work. Through the ongoing support of donors, funding partners, individuals, corporations, and foundations we have been able to make a real difference in the lives of many people.

We partner with local organizations that refer clients in need of interview clothing to aid in the transition to self-sufficiency. In addition to providing interview appropriate clothing and training on how to dress for work, we also conduct seminars, give interviewing tips and coach on exhibiting appropriate professional behavior. By focusing on the skills our clients need to be competitive in the interview process, we help instill the confidence necessary to succeed.

Credits: This program is being submitted for approval of recertification credits by the HR Certification Institute (HRCI) and for SHRM Professional Development Credit (PDC).
