Employer Invite for Community Second Chance Job Fair

Hello Human Resource Recruiters!

We are recruiting up to a total of twenty-five employers and apprenticeship programs for a second chance job fair for prior justice involved job seekers, motivated to fill the high labor needs in our community.

This is a community event sponsored by Montgomery County: Public Defender’s Office, Commons Pleas Courts – General Division & Public Health Department, Community Overdose Action Team (COAT), the FOA and CareSource.

Last year we had over 150 job seekers attend! (Please consider attending and emailing your RSVP info to me by asap.)

What: Second Chance Job Fair
When: Thursday, October 17, 2024 (11am - job seeker start - 1 pm)
Where: Reibold Building – 117 S. Main St., 5th. Floor, Dayton, OH

• Ample parking in attached Reibold Building garage (6th floor) no-cost

  • Session Description: Matthew will provide MVHRA’s annual fall HR legal update. Topics will include: the anticipated impact of 11/5 election results on employment laws; best practices for dealing with problem employees; the latest on noncompete agreements; separation and severance agreement best practices; the next scheduled salary threshold increase for overtime exemptions; the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act; the EEOC’s updated guidance on workplace harassment; delays in OCRC charge processing and related issues; additional federal and state agency actions on joint employment, employee classification, and other issues; U.S. Supreme Court decisions impacting employers; business best practices related to assistance animals; and more.


    Speaker Bio:Matthew is a partner at Dinsmore and practices in the areas of litigation and labor and employment law. He is entering his 20th year of practice and has been certified by the Ohio State Bar Association as a specialist in labor and employment law. Matthew provides counsel and advice to employers throughout Ohio on day-to-day employment decisions and on matters related to employment agreements, restrictive covenants, and protection of trade secrets. He also defends employers against administrative agency charges and employment-related lawsuits in state and federal court, and represents employers seeking court enforcement of noncompete agreements against former employees engaging in unfair competition.

  • Session Description: Human resource professionals spend their time and energy helping employees be successful and comfortable in their roles, many times placing others’ needs before their own. If not recognized and dealt with, it can lead to burnout and feeling emotionally depleted. This condition is called Compassion Fatigue (CF). The goal of the talk is to help the audience learn about, understand and mitigate Compassion Fatigue (CF). During my time, I will help with defining CF, learn factors that contribute to it, identify signs, and learn how to prevent and manage it.
