"Government Affairs Update," Presented by Ben Watson

Session Description: Ben will provide an update on recent changes, developments, and trends in employment law and regulations that impact HR practices within an organization to include legislative changes, discrimination and harassment prevention, wage and hour laws, employee benefits and leave policies, and much more.
Speaker Bio: Ben is an accomplished attorney and business partner with extensive experience managing a broad spectrum of legal affairs for Premier Health, a large health care system in Southwest Ohio. Skilled in labor and employment law, drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide variety of complex as well as routine contracts and agreements, providing practical and understandable legal advice to non-lawyers, addressing complex legal issues with senior executives, and synthesizing various areas of the law while ensuring that all bases are covered.
Credits: This program is being submitted for approval of recertification credits by the HR Certification Institute (HRCI) and for SHRM Professional Development Credit (PDC).

The Miami Valley Human Resources Association (formerly the Miami Valley Personnel Association) was organized just prior to the First World War. A number of Dayton Personnel executives met for the purpose of fostering and promoting better methods of maintaining the best possible human relations in industry and commerce. Out of these early experiences so many worthwhile values have evolved that today the Association includes Human Resource professionals from local organizations that comprise a large segment of the business community. All of these industrial and commercial establishments are helped in many ways by their participation in the Association.
